Jake "The Snake" Roberts & Cheryl Roberts

Jake "The Snake" Roberts — born Aurelian Smith Jr. in Gainesville, Texas — is one of professional wrestling's most iconic figures and a 2014 WWE Hall of Fame inductee. The son of pro wrestler Aurelian "Grizzly" Smith, he broke into the business in the mid-1970s before rising to global fame during two celebrated runs in the World Wrestling Federation between 1986–1992 and 1996–1997.

Menacing, intimidating, and totally hypnotic in the ring, Jake was celebrated for his cerebral promos, dark charisma, and pioneering use of psychology. He is credited with inventing the DDT — later named by WWE the "coolest" wrestling maneuver of all time — and became inseparable from his snake companions, most famously Damien, whom he would drape across fallen opponents.

After stints in WCW, ECW, and TNA, Roberts returned to WWE in 2014 to be inducted into the Hall of Fame by his close friend and mentor Diamond Dallas Page — a moment tied to Jake's remarkable personal recovery. In 2020 he was also enshrined in the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum.
